Since the original footage had a blue screen on the TV, I used the effect linear color key (with a simple choke to feather the edges) to matte out the blue and 3D manually adjusted the positioning of the Samara footage and the static overlay. Recommended by my professors, I added a dust and particle overlay with my own time remap (with an intense ease in and out).
The second part consisted of the same concept, except there are two separate masks. The initial mask of the blue screen TV and a mask of our actor as Samara. I also have separate footage of just the white wall so that process was easy to configure. Also, sounds effects are done by me with additional crossfades in the audio.
Although the masking could be done better, the process took me less than an hour to do. The team was really satisfied with the results.
